Recently, the attorneys at Eccleston and Wolf attended a number of events and spoke about the development of their respective programs as well as topics related to legal ethics, risk management, the legal advertising sphere and more. Here, the attorneys at Eccleston and Wolf detail recent speaking engagements in which firm members participated.

About the Presentations

On November 5, 2019, Lauren Marini presented a program on professional ethics and malpractice risk avoidance to the Maryland Society of Accounting and Tax Professionals. This event had an attendance of 85 accounting professionals and was held in Frederick, Maryland. 

On November 7, 2019, the firm presented a Risk Management Program to approximately 200 lawyers. The program featured a variety of speakers including the Hon. Alan Wilner, Chair of the Standing Committee of Rules and Procedure of the Court of Appeals; Ms. Connie Hurley of the District Court of Maryland who provided an update on MDEC; Deputy Bar Counsel Erin Risch speaking on the perils of social media; Steve Cornelius providing an update and cautionary advice regarding Medicare/Medicaid liens; and Glenn Grossman, former Bar Counsel and Al Frederick who spoke with regard to the graying of America, the perils of dealing with an aging population and Maryland Rule 19-301.14 as well as tips and suggestions for succession planning. 

On November 12, 2019, Richard Berwanger, Jr. of Eccleston and Wolf and Tim Bojanowski of Zest Social Media Solutions presented a program titled “Digital Media, Advertising & Ethics: What Lawyers Need to Know” to the Maryland Chapter of Claims Litigation Management (CLM). The program addressed social media, advertising and associated ethical and risk management issues. Mr. Bojanowski, an expert in digital marketing and advertising, presented on issues related to social media and online advertising, while Mr. Berwanger discussed risk management and ethical issues related to online advertising. 

On November 18, 2019, Al Frederick, Erin Risch, Deputy Bar Counsel and Tim Bojanowski of Zest presented a risk management program to the Baltimore County Professionalism Committee. The program dealt with social media and risk management issues. Mr. Bojanowski presented various risk management options, Ms. Risch commented on ethical implications and Mr. Frederick presented on additional risk management matters.

About the Speakers from Eccleston and Wolf

Alvin I. Frederick is a Principal at Eccleston and Wolf, and focuses his practice on the defense of professionals, primarily lawyers, accountants, architects and engineers, both in civil and disciplinary matters. He is a frequent speaker and writer on these areas, and has spoken on a National level, as well.
